Unit 8 Blog

The two exercises that benefited me the most are the Loving-Kindness and meditation. The meditation exercises were the most difficult but I believe made the most impact. I have a hard time concentrating but once I actually did I was alot more calm and collected after it was really nice. And the Loving-Kindness exercises were great because it has helped me be more sympathetic and empathetic towards others. I try to practice this everyday, I keep in mind how I would want someone to treat me. The hardest part was letting go of anger, but slowly but surly I am becoming less bitter. Great example actually happened this month, it has been really rough. I'm going through a rough break of after 5 years and had to move me and my daughter back to my mothers for the mean time and any other time I would be very angry right now but surprisingly I have remained calm. I know this is because this class has taught me how to positively handle stress.

  1. Felicia,

Thank you for you kind post this week. I am sorry to hear that you are going through such a rough time this week. This is the best time to maintain positivity and clarity...it will benefit you immensely. Loving-kindness is an awesome way to make this transition in your life go a little bit smoother. It may not take the pain away but will ease the sting and your positive energy will be transferred to your daughter. Best of luck to you.

    Best,
    Stevi

  2. Hi Felicia-
I am amazed at how you are already seeing the fruits of what you have learned in this class. I would say that you are going through an incredible test right now and in many people's eyes you would have the right to feel angry and hurt. Of course you will have those days where you will struggle. But you have made the CHOICE to respond in a different spirit and I know that will make a difference in your situation. As you continue to make these healthy choices it will benefit others as well as yourself and you will walk in more peace and happiness. Blessings as you continue on your journey and keep up the great work!

  3. Hi Felicia Hiatt, for this week blog discussion we had to choose two exercise or practices we benefited from. I will have to say, that I really did learn a lot helpful information from many of them. However, I really did enjoy the Love Kindness and meditation for this has allowed my mind to grow and to be at a relaxing state of mind.

  4. Hey Felicia good to hear that you have gained so much from this class. Like you, concentrating isn't something I brag to be great at, lol. It has made doing some of these exercises a little difficult for me, however I have tried to make the best of it. I won't say I am anywhere close to being one hundred percent comfortable with these exercises, however I am getting there. I am glad to see you are handling your current situation pretty well and with a sense of calmness. A lot of people will take this class for granted, however you seem to have gotten a lot from it. Good luck to you!

  5. Felicia,
It is wonderful to hear what you have gained from this class. Having the ability to step back and take one moment at a time and be focused and calm is a true blessing. Breakups are hard to deal with especially when children are involved, but it sounds like using these techniques is helping you through this time in a positive way.
